Cycling The World

Last week, we had the pleasure of introducing Forward Whakatipu to an audience at Patagonia’s Tāhuna Queenstown store alongside McKenzie Barney’s new film Cycling The World and James Beatty’s new book The Road South.

McKenzie cycled across 5 continents, totalling 29,000 km over the duration of the film which she self-filmed, wrote and edited herself. If you’re looking for some inspiration to get out on your bike and take the alternative path in life, get down to a screening or view it online here.

The night was also Forward’s first public event. It was great to see so many faces, old and new, and we’re excited to start building a passionate community of mountain bikers and cyclists that care about the environment.

We introduced our motivations and four strategic pillars—community, education, action and collaboration—and will be hosting more events in the Spring with our network of amazing non-profit partners and stakeholders such as QMTBC and QT Trails Trust. Watch this space!

Thank you to Cody, Louisa and the Patagonia team for the space, and to McKenzie and James for collaborating with us!
